Opihi Picking - May 5, 2013

D.JPG

Opihi is a snail that sticks hard to the rocks near the ocean. Opihi has been a local delicacy for islanders since the days of our ancestors. Now days, Opihi is very expensive averaging at $40 a pound. We risk it all to pick what we can without being swept away by the ocean.

My Opihi Picking footage got the attention of Animal Planet's TV show "Off the Hook." I was then contacted by one of their Co-Producers to have some of my footage featured on the show. I sent him all the raw footage I captured with my GoPro Hero 2 of me and my friends Jordan Abear & Justin Garo and edited some for myself. From the video below you will recognize the same footage that was featured on their show.
